Shopping centre in Bucharest, Romania

On an old landfill, the shopping centre on the outskirts of Bucharest was built using different Menard techniques: stone columns for the deeper layers, Dynamic Compaction and Dynamic Replacement pillars for the top soils. Combining these methods enabled the 40,000 m² building to be built on shallow foundations. Menard completed the project by installing a decontamination system in order to avoid any over-concentration of methane below the slab on grade while in operation.

Dynamic replacement | MENARD

The Menard group develops foundation solutions based on ground improvement and reinforcement technologies. Its treatments eliminate the need for the deep foundations traditionally used to support surface structures.
